Pete Johnson Tatuaje Cigars
Tatuaje is a cigar created by Pete Johnson with the help of Jose
Garcia. Tatuaje cigars are manufactured at the El Rey de Habanos
factory in Miami and at Tabacalera Cubana S. A. in Esteli Nicaragua.
Tatuaje means tattoo in Spanish, which reflects Pete Johnson's
tattoos. The brand was developed by Pete Johnson and Don Pepin, who
is a world famous cigar blender. Tatuaje was released in 2003 and
has since topped many magazines with above 90 ratings.
Tatuaje Cigars are full bodied cigars, but vary in strength. All
Tatuaje's are Nicaraguan Puros and consist of 4 regular production
lines along with several limited release sizes manufactured
specifically for certain retailers.
Tatuaje Cabinet
The Tatuaje Cabinet consists of six sizes. The Cabinet's band is a
simple brown band with white lettering. The Cabinet uses a Corojo 99
viso wrapper with the wrappers chosen for the Especiales being
lighter. The Tatuaje Cabinet ranges in strength from the refined
mellowness of the Especiales to the cuban like strength of the
Cazadored.
Tatuaje Reserva
The Tatuaje Reserva has three sizes. The filler blends vary in the
Reserva line similar to the Cabinet line. The wrapper is a
Nicaraguan viso, except for the J21, which is a ligero leaf. The
Tatuaje Reserva line has a second band, black with Reserva and gold
lettering.
Tatuaje Cojonu
The Tatuaje Cojonu has three sizes also. The Cojonu line are full
bodied cigars. Beginning in August 2006, the wrapper was changed to
a viso wrapper from a ligero wrapper. There is a second band that is
black with gold lettering stating the year of the cigars
introduction. The Grand Cojonu, however, is bandless. There are
plans to introduce a new model every three years.
Tatuaje Series P
The Tatuaje Series P consists of 60% medium filler and 40% long
filler. The Series P is a medium bodied, Nicaraguan Puro, and uses
the same blend as the Havana VI. It is made in Esteli, Nicaragua.
The wrapper is a Nicaraguan Habano. This line was released in 2006
in four sizes and has a simple white band with red lettering.
