Casa Magna Cigars
The Quesada family has been a part of the tobacco world for over 100
years. They immigrated from Spain to Cuba in the mid 1880's where
they were bakers and decided to start in the tobacco business when
they were paid a debt with tobacco. The Quesada brothers were forced
into exile due to the Cuban Revolution where they had to leave
everything behind. They moved to the Dominican Republic where they
bought warehouses and established the tobacco leaf business on the
island.
Matasa was created in 1974 as a small operation with
three rollers. Manuel Quesada started Matasa and over the years has
witnessed the growth of the company as well as the cigar industry in
general. Matasa manufactures some of the finest cigars in the world.
Brands such as Fonseca, Cubita, Jose Benito, Casa Blanca, and La
Primera to name a few. The Quesada family strives for quality,
consistency, and pride in the work they do and continue to create
great cigars out of every bale of Dominican tobacco they prepare.
The Casa Magna line of cigars is a creation from two of
the greatest minds in the cigar world. Manuel Quesada and Nestor
Plascencia created the Casa Magna to replace the Joya de Nicaragua
Antano 1970. The Robusto size in the Casa Magna line was rated a 92
in Cigar Insider, while it was voted Cigar of the Year in 2008 by
Cigar Aficionado. The Casa Magna is a Nicaraguan puro which means
that all the tobacco in the cigar comes from Nicaragua. The Casa
Magna is a medium to full bodied cigar. This cigar, which is made by
Matasa is rolled in the Nestor Plascencia's Segovia factory in
Esteli, Nicaragua. The wrapper is an oily Colorado wrapper that
finishes off the cigar nicely. The Casa Magna has hints of coffee,
cocoa, and sweet cedar and is a very smooth smoke. It is available
in four sizes: a Belicoso, Gran Toro, Robusto, and Torito. The Casa
Magna is truly one the hottest cigars on the market today.
